As one enters Pantelidou Salomi’s studio in Limassol, a vibrant and eclectic collection of artworks captivates the eyes. The studio is adorned with paint jars, brushes on the tables, and canvases in various stages of completion flooding the room, offering a window into Salomi’s exploratory and captivating artistic practice.

Salomi’s artistic journey has been shaped by a diverse range of influences and styles. From an early age, she developed a passion for painting, continually exploring varied styles that have left an indelible mark on Salomi’s work, which she has seamlessly integrated into her artistic expression. Reflecting on this, Salomi shares, “From a very young age, I loved painting. It was my favourite daily activity. I explored different styles and techniques, including Byzantine iconography, representational painting, abstraction, and digital modern art. All of these have influenced my work and allowed me to create a diverse and captivating body of work.”

Drawing inspiration from her studies in Byzantine art, Salomi delves deep into the inner world and spirituality of her subjects. She explains, “Byzantine iconography has had a significant influence on my artistic practice. It has taught me the importance of symbolism and the power of capturing the spiritual essence of a subject. I strive to create a connection that transcends time and culture, allowing viewers to delve into the depths of the human experience.”

Salomi’s artworks are not merely static images; they serve as invitations for viewers to connect with their own experiences and emotions. Through her newest series “Figures and Colours,” she encourages contemplation and introspection, enabling individuals to discover personal connections within the vibrant and expressive world she creates. Salomi affirms, “My intention is to highlight the internal states and processes of human existence as I perceive and understand them. I want my art to evoke emotions and create a connection with the viewer. I want them to find their own personal meaning within my artworks.”

Participation in exhibitions has played an instrumental role in Salomi’s artistic development and her connection to the art scene. She fondly recalls a memorable experience at an exhibition in Athens, where her artworks garnered high praise and sparked engaging discussions. Salomi shares, “One very memorable experience in a group exhibition was on March 23, 2023, in Athens at the CHILI Gallery, where I participated with two works from my new series. I received very good reviews, but what was most important is that they believed in and trusted my work. This event truly encouraged me to continue and work very hard lately until I achieved this result.”
