Hadjigeorgiou Nitsa was born in Famagusta in 1949. She graduated from the A’ Gymnasium of Limassol in 1968. Following this, she studied painting at the Higher School of Fine Arts in Athens from 1968 to 1974, on a scholarship from the Foundation of State Scholarships (Ι.Κ.Υ.). During her studies, she was taught by notable artists such as Yiannis Moralis, Nikolaos, Kanakakis, Mytaras, and Prevelakis. In her final two years, she also attended classes on fresco painting and the technique of portable icons at the same institution. Additionally, between 1978 and 1980, she studied ceramics at the Technical School of Limassol.

Nitsa also pursued piano lessons from 1960 to 1965 at the National Conservatory of Nicosia and has written poetry, with her works published in various literary magazines under the pseudonym Eleni Ioel. She has also contributed articles focusing on women’s issues and their role in the modern world in various publications.

After completing her studies in Greece, she returned to Cyprus and settled in Nicosia, where she has worked as an art teacher in secondary schools. She is a member of the Chamber of Fine Arts of Cyprus and has participated in numerous group exhibitions both in Cyprus and abroad, as well as organizing many solo exhibitions. Notably, she represented Cyprus at the 7th Triennale in New Delhi in 1991, where she won a gold medal among artists from 38 countries. In 1972, she won the “Golden Nightingale” competition in Platres.

In 1994, she was selected to represent Cyprus with a short film produced by the Cyprus Radio Foundation for a global event focused on the environment, titled “Live for Life.” This event, held in Europe under the auspices of UNESCO, featured television stations from various countries showcasing the work of an artist from their nation. The film about Nitsa Hadjigeorgiou, directed by Andros Pavlidis and titled “Triptych,” was selected among the most notable works and was subsequently broadcast by television stations in many countries worldwide in 1994-1995.
