Christofi Erymanthos biography

My name is Erymanthos Christofi and I was born in the town of Famagusta in Cyprus in 1954.

My love for art dates back to my childhood and my inspiration was my late father Christos Markou who apart from being an amateur artist he was one of the island’s most well known makers of musical instruments. I have to admit that he was my first teacher and he was the one who introduced me to painting.

The Turkish invasion of 1974 forces us to move to Limassol.

1976 finds me in Athens studying the profession of making musical instruments, next to one of the most well established names of the time, the late Kyriakos Mouratidis.

On my return from Athens I follow the profession and I make musical instruments for prominent people of the island. Seven years later I decide to follow the calling of my inner voice and to devote myself wholeheartedly to painting, which finally became my sole profession. 2011 finds me with 22 solo exhibitions in Cyprus and abroad as well as an equivalent number of group exhibitions.

Lots Prices

Please note that lot’s prices listed on this page are exclusive of the Buyer’s Premium, of any applicable taxes and costs, unless otherwise noted.

Auction closing times

Lots will close at their scheduled time unless a bid is placed within five minute of a Lot’s scheduled closing time, in which case we will extend the sale of that Lot by five minutes.

The extension of any Lots closing time does not affect any other Lots closing time; therefore, it is possible that Lots will close out of the announced auction ending time. Lots may extend for up to two hours to accommodate competitive bidding.

The secondary art market

The term “secondary market” refers to art that has been sold at least once before. In simpler terms, the secondary market deals with resale, typically with artworks by artists who have a substantial reputation. For example, most artworks sold through auction houses form part of the secondary market.
